Obituary

Sylvia was born on February 22, 1958 in Anniston, Alabama to James Edward Price and Sherlene Bassett. From an early age, she demonstrated a spirit of kindness, strength, faith, determination, compassion, and creativity that would guide her life and leave a lasting imprint on everyone she encountered.

She received her education at Anniston Schools, Mountain View College, Texas Woman's University and the University of Texas at Arlington. She ultimately became a licensed social worker, and went on to build a life marked by purpose and impact. Sylvia was known for her loving yet feisty personality, but more importantly, for the way she showed up for people with love, wisdom, and unwavering support.

A defining part of Sylvia's life was her love for family. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Randy Clark on January 24,1974. Over their 51 years together they built a life rooted in love, faith, partnership, and family values. From this union, they were blessed with three children: Ratyra, Sharonda and Randall, who were the pride and joy of her life. Sylvia embraced her roles as a wife, mother and Mimi with grace and dedication. She poured into her family with intention; teaching, guiding, loving, and creating memories that will be cherished forever.

Shortly after moving to Texas Sylvia joined Concord Church where she actively served in various ministries including Hospitality, Deaconess, Drama Ministry and Nursery worker.

To know Sylvia was to experience her warmth, style, humor, creativity, strength, faith, and encouragement. She had a way of making everyone feel valued and loved. Whether through cooking, decorating, mentoring, encouraging, advocating, or even giving tough love; she gave of herself freely and fully.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her grandparents Shelly Bassett, Mary Helen Heard Almon, Ollie and Maedella Price, her parents Sherlene Bassett Varner, James Edward Price, Stepfather Hunter Varner, her brother Kenneth Bassett, her sister Janelle Price, and her sister Bonita Tatum.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her loving husband: Randy Clark; children: Ratyra Moore (David), Sharonda Clark and Randall Clark; grandchildren: Taylor and Cameron Telsee; Siblings: David Almon, Jessica Bowers, Timothy Bassett, Michelle Calloway, Hunter Varner II, James Price II, Eric Price, Mandy Holmes (Ryland), Jamesica Price, Annette Price; Regina Price, Cinda Price, Deametria Price and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Though Sylvia is no longer with us in the way we wish, her legacy of love, faith, strength, and excellence will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her.
