Obituary

James Leonard Johnson, Jr. was a proud Dallas native, born on December 29, 1972, to James Leonard Johnson, Sr. and Brenda Hines Johnson. Affectionately known as "J3" by many who loved him, James was deeply rooted in his faith and accepted Christ at an early age. His love for the Lord remained the foundation of his life and provided him with strength, guidance, and comfort throughout his journey.

James often spoke with gratitude about the love, sacrifices, and investments his parents made in his life. Their unwavering support helped shape him into the loving, caring, compassionate, and gentle giant that family and friends came to know and cherish.

A lifelong learner with a strong appreciation for education, James received his early education through the Dallas Independent School District and later graduated from Duncanville High School. He valued knowledge and personal growth, carrying those qualities with him throughout his life.

In 2007, James discovered a dance called Swingout, a style that quickly became one of the great passions of his life. In 2012, he was given the opportunity to teach the dance he loved so deeply. Whether on the dance floor teaching or behind the music as a DJ, James would often say, "All I wanna do is dance."

Through teaching, entertaining, and bringing people together, he developed a true passion for DJing, dedicating himself to mastering the craft. His love for music and dance led him to create a monthly dance event that faithfully served and united the community for the past nine years.

A dancer at heart, James leaves behind a lasting legacy in the dance world and is also recognized as the co-creator of the Wobble. His energy, passion, and love for dance touched countless lives and will continue to live on through every beat, every step, and every soul he inspired. 19 years, teaching 14 years and being a promoter of dance events officially for the last 9 years. More than anything, James will be remembered for his warm heart, kind spirit, and the genuine love he shared with others. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and encouragement to those around him, and his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
